CHICAGO -- At least eight elementary school students from Chicago’s South Side were hospitalized this afternoon after taking pills.
Officials say one student at Seward Communication Arts Academy Elementary fell ill and was taken to the hospital around 11:45 a.m.
The Chicago Fire Department says after that, more and more students started feeling sick as well.
Eight total were taken to the hospital, all 12 to 13 years old.
Students told WGN News the pills were 'benzos,’ benzodiazepine, which is a muscle relaxer similar to valium.
A student said the teen who brought the pills to school was trying to sell them.
