NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- She may need help in her daily life, cerebral palsy has robbed her of movement and speech, but 24 –year-old Erin Feeney’s voice rings loud and clear on the pages of “Kids in Toyland,” a collection of short stories she wrote and had published at just 16 years old.
Erin’s friends and their struggles are the focus of this 60-page book. She writes on a computer her dad Kevin helps her communicate with a letter board.
Erin’s book is now the focus of a film project by Artful Impact, which helps young people with disabilities use the arts to explore their potential.
The movie is filmed in Naperville, and in less than two weeks will premier at a local movie theater -- much to the excitement of the hardworking cast.
Erin’s work and all the hours the cast put into this film project are just hints of what can be accomplished with self-confidence and the support of good people around them.
