WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Police in Northern Virginia say a domestic dispute turned to gunfire that killed one police officer and wounded two others, while a county leader says a civilian woman is also dead.

Prince William County police say Officer Ashley Guindon was sworn in Friday after rejoining the department she served with previously. She was killed last night in her first day back on the job.

More than 100 patrol cars lined the roads as her body was escorted from the hospital early this morning.

The other officers are hospitalized and expected to survive.

Prince William County Commonwealth Attorney Paul Ebert says he has authorized a capital murder charge, along with other counts, against the suspect who is a military serviceman.

The suspect is expected in court tomorrow. He has not been identified.
