SANTA CLARA, Calif. —  Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton abruptly left a press conference following his team’s Super Bowl loss Sunday.

Newton met with the media gathered at Levi Stadium after Sunday night’s game. He kept his answers brief, walking out of the press conference after only three minutes.

“We had our opportunities,” said Newton. “There wasn’t nothing special that they did. We dropped balls. We turned the ball over, gave up sacks, threw errant passes. That’s it.”

Newton was named the 2015 NFL MVP on Saturday. He finished Sunday’s game 18 for 41 for 265 yards. The Broncos sacked the fifth-year quarterback a Super Bowl record-tying seven times.
