WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A supermarket hold-up in Florida had an unlikely suspect.
West Palm Beach police arrested an 8-year-old boy they say tried to rob the store with his mother’s gun.
Wednesday night’s attempted robbery was captured on the store's surveillance cameras. The boy is seen walking into the store wearing a bike helmet and baggy clothes.
He walked down an aisle, then to a checkout register where he reportedly demanded money. As other employees reacted to the commotion, the cashier wrested the gun away.
The boy is also seen struggling with a worker trying to take him to the office.
The boy's mother, Eboni Alls, says he had told her he was going to the park to play. She says she realized something was wrong when she grabbed her purse and it felt light.
The boy has not been charged, and is being evaluated by doctors after talking about hurting himself. No word on charges against the mother either.
