CALIFORNIA -- A school district in California is considering making condoms available to students as young as sixth grade.

The San Francisco school board will vote on a proposal to provide condoms to middle schoolers.

The school district says a recent survey revealed five-percent of middle school students say they have had sex.

A similar program is in place at the high school level, and officials say it's working well.
