Small jet carrying transplant organs slides off runway in Wheeling

WHEELING, Ill. -- A private chartered jet has slid off the runway in Wheeling.

The incident happened at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Chicago Executive Airport.

A Falcon FA20, operated by Kalitta Flying Service, was landing when it slid off the end of the runway into crushable concrete.

The plane flew into Chicago to pick up an organ for transplant, a spokesman with the Chicago Executive Airport confirmed.

Preliminary reports say two people were onboard at the time of the incident. No injuries have been reported.

The FAA is investigating.
