CHICAGO –  One person is dead after a brief police chase on Chicago’s South Side.

Officers tried to make a traffic stop after the driver of an SUV made an illegal U-turn at about 11 p.m. in the 6300 block of South King Drive.

Police say they asked for his driver’s license and that’s when he sped off south on King Drive.

The officers chased the SUV and saw it slammed into a viaduct near 68th Street and South Anthony Avenue.

The 38-year-old driver was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene.

His name has not been released.
