ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Newly released 9-1-1 tapes paint a surprisingly calm picture after a Boy Scout leader was attacked by a bear in New Jersey last week.

The bear pulled the Scoutmaster into a cave, then his three young scouts saved his life.

The Scoutmaster got out of the cave by hitting the bear in the nose.

The scouts helped paramedics find them by making a fire, then sending up smoke signals.

The leader was badly hurt, but is expected to be OK.

One of the scouts who saved his life, is his own son.

None of the scouts were hurt.
