CHICAGO — If you’re planning on shopping downtown on Black Friday, you may encounter some protesters on the streets.

The group Stop Mass Incarceration will be holding a protest at 11 a.m. Friday at Michigan and Pearson near Water Tower Place.

Protests began Tuesday after the city released dashcam video of a Chicago police officer fatally shooting a teenager. Officer Jason Van Dyke was charged with first-degree murder in the 2014 death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, who was shot 16 times.

While demonstrators chanted and sometimes blocked traffic Tuesday night, police reported few problems. A protest was held Wednesday afternoon at City Hall and others were planned at various locations Wednesday night.
