CHICAGO -- Chicago police say an 8-year-old accidentally shot an 10-year-old brother in Thursday morning.

It happened at about 9 a.m. in the 9000 block of South Bishop

Police say the 8-year-old somehow got a hold of a gun and shot his 10-year-old brother in the chest.

It appears instead of calling an ambulance the 10-year-old was transported by a family member to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park

It was then that someone from the hospital called police to alert them as to what happened.

The boy was then rushed by ambulance to Christ Hospital about two miles west on 95th Street which is equipped with a trauma center better suited to handle gunshot wounds.
