HOUSTON— Emergency personnel have rescued four workers from beneath piles of rubble and twisted metal after scaffolding collapsed at a seven-story building under construction in downtown Houston.

Houston Fire Department Capt. Ruy (ROO’-ee) Lozano says two workers were taken to hospitals after Friday morning’s accident. Lozano says both suffered “physical trauma.”

He says two others workers have lesser injuries and are being treated at the scene.

Dozens of responders are still searching through the massive pile of debris to ensure that no other workers are trapped.

The residential complex under construction site is close to Minute Maid Park, home of baseball’s Houston Astros.
