CHICAGO –Chicago Teachers Union president Karen Lewis says she’s running for a third term.

One year ago, Lewis was diagnosed with cancer and decided against a campaign for mayor against Rahm Emanuel.

But Lewis says doctors have given her a clean bill of health and she’ll be finished with chemotherapy in December.

Today she says her work is not done, and she wants to help make CPS a better place for students and the adults who work with them.

The next union election will be held next May.
