CHICAGO – A lakeshore flood advisory is now in effect until 11 p.m. for Cook and Lake counties in Illinois.

Strong northeast winds gusting to 35 mph at times will result in waves to 12 feet with occasional waves to 15 feet. This combined with above average lake levels will likely produce minor flooding of the typically flood prone areas along the lakefront.

Waves will drop below 10 feet late this evening, which will diminish the threat for minor flooding.
