EVANSTON - Pat Fitzgerald knows a lot about the 1995 Northwestern Wildcats.

He was their star linebacker, leading the team to a 10-1 record and a berth in the 1996 Rose Bowl.

But this year's defense could be just as good, if not better. They're ranked 20th in the nation in total defense, allowing fewer than 9 points a game.

After recording their first Big Ten shutout in 20 years earlier today, Northwestern is 5-0 and could crack the top 15 heading into next week.
