CHICAGO -- An unusual sport is coming to a lakefront golf course this weekend.

The first annual American Footgolf National Championship will be in Chicago.

About 100 footgolfers from more than 20 states are in Chicago for the sport that is extremely popular in Europe and gaining steam in the states.

The U.S. currently has the largest footgolf organized structure in the world with 440 courses in 48 states.

Saturday players will face a 36-hole course over two rounds.  The top three from the tournament will join the U.S. team in Argentina for the World Cup.

The course is set up over nine holes of golf and is a fast but challenging course for players, many whom have a soccer background and are experiencing the Windy City and its elements for the first time.
