CHICAGO - Tonight’s Powerball jackpot is $301 million dollars.

Right now, the odds of winning are about 1 in 175 million.

And it's about to get harder.

Major changes will make it much harder to win the jackpot  though easier to win smaller prizes.

It's an effort to increase interest in Powerball.

This comes at a time when the Illinois Lottery is drawing intense scrutiny.

Lottery payouts over $25,000 in Illinois are still on hold.  The comptroller says she doesn't have the legal authority to make the payments until the state has a budget.
