Crystal Lake lockdown lifted; Warrant issued for man

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. – Schools in Crystal Lake were put on lockdown Tuesday afternoon while police investigated reports of a man with a gun inside a home.

According to Crystal Lake Police, officers responded to a home in the 1700 block of Somerfield Lane after receiving a report of a disturbance in which a man was reportedly armed with a handgun.

Police attempted to contact the 23-year-old man who was a resident of the home.  Those attempts failed.  It was later determined the man was not home and no threated to the public were determined.

Police said in a statement, “As a precautionary measure the Crystal Lake Police Department initiated a public alert to the residents in the area and notified Crystal Lake School Districts 47 and 155. “

An arrest warrant was issued for the man, Daniel Hawkins for the offense of Aggravated Assault.
