CHATTANOOGA, Ten. – An off-duty firefighter in Chattanooga, Tennessee made a miraculous save, catching a baby when a fire tore through his apartment complex.

When the flames engulfed Lt. Vernon Lane’s apartment building, the people inside ran outside to safety.

Lane grabbed a few belongings and ran out as well.  But when he looked up, he saw a woman dangling her 10-month-old baby out the third-floor window to escape the flames.

Lane ran under the window and into the bushes to catch the child.  Moments later, Lane also broke the fall for the child’s mother.

Both of them are alive and had only minor injuries.  No one else in the apartment complex was hurt.
