HAMILTON, Ontario — A new ad campaign from Quaker Canada is pulling the heartstrings of families as it shows an emotional moment between father and daughter.

A video uploaded to YouTube by the company last week already has more than 100,000 views. In it an interviewer talks to a young girl named Lauren. The girl was asked: what is something she has always wanted to do? Her dad, who is alongside her for the interview, was asked the same question. Both had written their answers down. And in the ad the interviewer reveals they both said the same thing: that they want to spend more time together.

So father and daughter team up for a special moment: a father-daughter dance recital, showcasing fun hip-hop moves, to surprise the girl’s mother.

The video reaches its climax about three- and a half-minutes in, when, unbeknown to the mother, the father is awaiting backstage to join his daughter for the girl’s on-stage dance performance. The mother had previously been trying to contact the father leading up to the event, to no avail, and had an empty seat next to her.

The campaign says the people featured in the story are not actors, but a real family. They also released a behind-the-scenes video showcasing the setup to the special moment:
