Tony's Tips:

An annual is a plant that grows flowers and completes its life cycle in one year, usually dying with frost. A perennial can be grown from seed or division of another plant and comes back every year.

Mulch is material applied to soil to enhance appearance, reduce watering and weeds. An amendment, meanwhile, is any material added to the soil to improve structure, aeration, drainage or nutrient availability.

“Deadheading” means the removal of any flower that is past its prime and starting to look bad.
