DES PLAINES, Ill. -- It's a fairly ordinary sight in Lake Park, but driving by, who would ever know the driving force behind a building movement rests in the heart of one little boy?
Adrian Menzel is just 8 years old; his grandmother, Sheri, simply astounded by his idea. An idea so pure, it just had to come from a kid.
At Adrian’s birthday party this year, he requested Legos … but not for him.
One day Adrian saw little kids living in a landfill that had to dig through the trash to find toys. Not that Adrian has a ton of toys himself, but what he does have, he really likes to share.
A whole city is now part if his project, collecting Legos to bring to the kids of Guatemala during a trip in October, to bring happiness to those children.
In July Adrian made his case, all on his own, to the Des Plaines City Council.
The boxes, which Adrian makes himself, are now around, waiting for more Legos, helping him build a bridge of hope to those he thinks could use some.
