CHICAGO — Police are warning women not to walk alone after two women were fondled on the North Side earlier this week.
The first incident happened around 11:20 p.m. last Sunday, July 26. A woman was walking near Damen and Sunnyside in Lincoln Square when a man came up behind her, reached under her skirt and touched her inappropriately. When the woman screamed, the man ran southbound down an alley.
The second incident happened three hours later, at about 2 a.m. Monday, in Ravenswood near Damen and Lawrence. A woman was walking when a man approached her and hugged her from behind, then reached under her dress. The woman was able to break away, and the man ran westbound on Lawrence.
Police suspect it was the same man in both attacks. He is described as a white Hispanic man, age 19 to 30, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-8, and 155 to 160 pounds with a slim build and short, dark hair. He was wearing a black hoodie with a white T-shirt and dark jeans in one attack and a white T-shirt and dark shorts in the other.
Police are advising women to walk in pairs, stay alert, walk in well-lit and well-populated areas and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
