While hiking in Peru, a man from Oswego got the surprise of a lifetime when he happened to cross paths with his “hockey hero” — Chicago Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews.

Ryan Adorjan has been in Peru for nine weeks studying Spanish.

According to Only Oswego, Adorjan said he was hiking  with a friend when he spotted Toews, but decided not say anything. About four hours later, he decided to loop back around to see Machu Picchu one more time, and saw the Hawks player again. He waited for the tour guide to finish speaking and then swooped in to meet him.

Adorjan said Toews was ‘humble, geniune’ and a little surprised to be recognized in Peru.

“He was just happy to meet us. He was asking more questions about us and our lives than we were about him,” said Adorjan.

Toews then suggested getting a photo of them with the ruins in the background.

As if traveling to Peru and exploring the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu isn’t cool enough.
