CHICAGO – A man was hospitalized Friday night after being shot by Chicago police in the city’s Pullman neighborhood.
Police pulled over a vehicle the man was riding in and when an officer approached, police say the man pointed a gun at them.
In a statement police say the officer fired his gun and struck the man.
The man was placed into custody and taken to the hospital.
A weapon was recovered on the scene.
Several witness told WGN they saw the driver get out while the passenger locked himself inside. They also say police had their guns drawn as the approached the truck. Some witnesses say they heard police say "Halt!"
Neither the man’s name nor age has been released.
This is the second police involved shooting in Chicago in less than 24 hours.
