DALLAS -- A woman is now blind in one eye after competing in a popular mud run race.

Brittany Williams says her eye started hurting during the race in Dallas earlier this month.

She thought it was just a little mud. By the next morning the vision in her left eye was gone.

Doctors say debris cut her eye allowing a flesh-eating bacteria to destroy her cornea.

There's a chance Williams will eventually regain her vision with surgery.

Several doctors have denied her treatment because she does not have health insurance.

Williams was quoted in another article that she initially had health insurance from her employer but opted out of it because she wasn’t getting sick and didn’t want to pay for something she wasn’t using. Dumb mistake.

Isn’t it against the law to not have insurance? It IS!! So, in addition to owing the thousands of dollars for her medical care, is she going to be fined by the IRS for not having health insurance?
