CHICAGO (AP) — Walgreens pharmacies in more than a dozen Chicago locations plan to offer free HIV testing this week.
Testing will be Thursday and Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. National HIV Testing Day is Saturday.
Results are available within minutes. Trained counselors from health departments and local AIDS service organizations will be delivering results.
It’s the fifth year Walgreens has worked with the Greater Than Aids coalition on the project. Participating pharmacy locations are available online.
In addition, most county health departments in Illinois offer HIV testing year round. Since 2006, federal health officials have recommended that all Americans ages 13 to 64 get tested at least once, not just those considered at highest risk.
