CRYSTAL LAWNS, Ill. — A south suburban woman posted a photo of a World War II veteran looking for shipmates on Facebook and the response has been tremendous.
Cheryl Johnson Brown, who, according to Facebook, is from Crystal Lawns, posted a photo of Raymond Devere Johnson on the Facebook page of the U.S. Navy a few days ago.
The caption read:
Raymond Devere Johnson was a Signal Man on LST 218 in World War ll and he was wondering if any of his Shipmates are still around!! Please Share with Everyone so he could have a reunion!
So far, it has been shared close to 900,000 times.
