JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — A school district in Louisiana may have gone overboard with its zero-tolerance policy.

The Jefferson Parish School District had an 8th grader handcuffed and taken away from a history class, for throwing Skittles on a school bus.

In just one year, 1,600 other students were arrested for minor offenses like swearing and carrying cell phones.

40 percent of the student body is black, 80 percent of those arrested are black.

well people would be mad if the bus got into an accident because that kid was throwing candy.
Distractions are a real threat in any vehicle, but a bus driver is trying to drive and make sure the kids sit correctly and behave. suspension from the bus is what kids need to behave.

Why did my comments get deleted? I can understand why some of my comments on other articles were deleted but why this one? I seriously would like an answer everything I said was factual and I brought up a good point. I will not let this go, because this monitoring of these comments is something to be expected in a communist country. Deleting my comment on this article is violating my freedom of speech is it not? Especially since I made no threats – I just called you out on your biased journalism – keep this up and it won’t be the last you hear from me.
