CHICAGO -- A dog that was freed from under a car on the Kennedy Expressway yesterday was reunited with her owner today.
Authorities were alerted to the dog running loose on the Kennedy near Addison yesterday afternoon. The dog, a female, long-haired Chihuahua mix, was stopped under a vehicle and police and Animal Care and Control arrived on the scene, a spokesperson said. The animal control officer was able to get the dog on a leash safely and remove her out from under the vehicle.
The dog was taken to Animal Care and Control where it was examined and observed and determined she had no injuries. The dog had tags and a microchip which helped in locating her owner.
Earlier today, the dog’s owner arrived at the shelter to take her home.
