CTA Red Line service restored after woman falls on tracks

CHICAGO — CTA Red Line service has been restored after a woman fell on the tracks Wednesday morning.

It happened around 9:20 a.m. at the Lake Red Line station at 188 N. State St, and trains were temporarily rerouted to the elevated tracks between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown.

It is unclear if the woman was hit by the train.

She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she is in serious-to-critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs  spokesman.

The male train conductor was also take to Northwestern, authorities said. He did not suffer physical injuries, but was shaken up by the incident.
