Noelle Hancock had a lot going for her four years ago. She had a hit book and a $95,000 job as a journalist in New York.

She decided to give all that up and move to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Hancock took jobs as an ice cream scooper and a bartender.

“If you're constantly thinking you need a vacation, maybe what you really need is a new life,” Hancock said in an essay in Cosmopolitan Magazine.

She spoke with WGN Morning News about the experience.

Good for her!! She’s right. If you are living for vacation, you might need to rethink your life style. It’s easy to get into the cycle where we work to pay bills for things we really don’t even need…expensive things. She simplified her life. Good work!
