NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. — A high school principal in Florida was allegedly caught in the back seat of a car smoking marijuana with a student with her shirt unbuttoned.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, North Palm Beach police arrested Krista Morton, 45, a principal at Mavericks High School (map), and an 18-year-old student following the incident.

Police said they were responding to a report of suspicious people in a car. The initial caller told authorities the two appeared to have been engaging in sexual activity or were being attacked, according to the report.

When police arrived they saw the principal’s shirt was unbuttoned, “exposing her shoulders and part of her chest,” according to a police report cited by the Sentinel.

Morton told police she was friends with the student, and just trying to get to know him better. But the student told police she was his principal.

According to the report, police could smell marijuana while talking to the two. The principal told authorities marijuana had been smoked, but would not say she had smoked it.

A box containing the drug was found in the car.

Both were charged with possession of marijuana. Morton was released from jail Thursday. The student remains at the jail on $1,000 bail, the Sentinel reports.

The student was 18. That means this story is about two ADULTS who were caught with a near harmless plant that is legal in half the country.

    Where’s the big story?

Just for the record, marijuana is not legal in half of the country. It is illegal in all of the country. Some states have lifted their laws against it, but there are still federal laws prohibiting its sale and use and you can still be prosecuted in those states under federal law.

Just for the record, Marijuana prohibition was a monstrously destructive fraud perpetrated in 1937 by soon-to-be-out-of-work alcohol prohibition bureaucrat, Harry Anslinger. He desperately wanted a new empire and no lie was too big to tell to get it.

The states are getting it right and ending the insane witch-hunt.

The story is this woman is a person of authority, who should have maintained respectability, and her position of responsibility! End of story!

Sorry my words aren’t politically correct for some. Someone in a position to be teaching others or nurturing others should never betray that trust. It doesn’t matter if everyone is of age or not. Lose it with one. Lose it with all.

“John Thomas”, just because you type “NO” in all caps, it doesn’t change reality. He’s a student at the school and she is the school’s principal, therefore she has legal authority. You’re also contradicting yourself in your comment saying “graduating student” instead of graduate (meaning: something that might happen) with going after another commenter with “if…could be”, as if you didn’t like hypotheticals when they don’t support your story.

If it was a male principal with your teenage daughter it would be apparent to you.plus shes a teacher she teaches kids in high school the boys 18. Next time could be 17,16,15 year old boy.

John Thomas, an anonymous user with no profile photo acting as an apologist for Krista Morton, making arguments that have no legal basis. Yeah, there’s nothing fishy about that. I notice that you didn’t use the expression “consenting adults” to describe them because you know an 18 year old student with a principal or teacher authority figure cannot give consent.
