Coast Guard captures photos of Lake Michigan shipwrecks

LELAND, Mich. -- A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station in Northern Michigan has shared helicopter images of shipwrecks found at the bottom of Lake Michigan.

The photos, taken during a "routine patrol" over the weekend, show the wreckage near Sleeping Bear Point along the shoreline to Leland, Michigan.

The pictured wreck includes the 'James McBride' - a 121-foot ship that sank in 1857.

Another photo is of the 'Rising Sun' - a 133-foot wooden steamer than sank in 1917.
