MILWAUKEE (AP) — It began with a traffic accident in Milwaukee that killed a 2-year-old boy. But now, three others are dead -- including the boy's uncle, who police say shot and killed the driver at the scene of the accident.

The accident happened Sunday evening, when police say Archie Brown was driving his van in Milwaukee. They say 2-year-old Damani Terry dashed out into the road in front of Brown, and was hit and killed.

Brown jumped from his vehicle to try to help the toddler. Police say that's when the boy's uncle, Ricky Chiles, took the law into his own hands. They say he fatally shot Brown -- but that a bullet also hit the gunman's own teenage nephew, who died later at a hospital.

Police last night obtained a warrant for the arrest of Chiles. But they say as they closed in on him this morning, at a motel in the Chicago area where he was staying with his girlfriend, he took his own life.

Milwaukee's police chief says when people decide to use guns to take revenge, there are going to be "dreadful mistakes" and "tragedies."
