SAN FRANCISCO -- A woman has posted a series of photos of her exercise workout to social media in hopes to remind people, "We aren't Barbies."

A user on image-sharing site Imgur going by the name "SomewhereUnderWater" shared the photos in a post titled "Reality Check."

The post reveals a series four photos showing different angles of her body in workout clothes, emphasizing her stomach.

"We aren't Barbies. We are made of flesh and blood," the user wrote. "These are all the same body -- my body. I have worked hard for this body and I am proud of this body."

The user said the images aimed to be a reality check because too often social media users are surrounded by images of a "friends highlights reel" that may not always reflect reality.

"No matter where you are on your body's journey, be proud and love yourself," the user continued. "Make goals because you love your body not because you hate it."

The photos made the rounds on in the Internet, going viral -- and the user responded with an update to the post, which read in part:

"The important thing is that we love our bodies -- and when I say that I mean that we care for our bodies. We won't always like everything that they do, or the path they have gone down or everything that happens to them but we do have to love them (like family). Respect them, guide them, show them kindness, mercy, forgiveness, push them to be their best with positive affirmation and encouragement! Be thankful for them."

The post currently has more than 1 million views and nearly 1500 comments on the site.

"Every body has it's [sic] awkward moments -- be kind to yourself and others," the user wrote.
