Even though we couldn't see it here in the United States, there was a spectacular solar eclipse on Friday.
Solar eclipses happen when the sun, moon and earth are perfectly aligned. When the moon passes in front of the sun, it casts a shadow on the earth.
The solar eclipse could only be seen in parts of North Africa, Europe and much of Northern Asia.
The next solar eclipse that will be visible in the U.S. won't happen until August 2017.
