I-55 lanes reopen after man struck escaping car fire

CHICAGO -- All inbound lanes on Interstate 55 have reopened after being closed due to a hit and run earlier this afternoon.

State police say a man was escaping from a car fire and was struck.

The hit-and-run happened near Martin Luther King Drive just after 1 p.m. Thursday.

The man was transported to Northwestern Memorial hospital. Although exact condition is unknown, police say he is alive.

All lanes remain closed as police interview witnesses.
