2 charged in Lake County burglaries

LAKE COUNTY, Ill. — Two adults have been charged in a series of burglaries that took place throughout Lake County, Illinois.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Saturday that Deantea Williams, 18, and Monique Greathouse, 20, were each charged with multiple counts of commercial burglary and theft, as well as criminal damage to property.

Williams is being held at Lake County Jail on $500,000 bond. Greathouse also remains at Lake County jail on $350,000 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office in an earlier statement said Williams and Greathouse, along with a juvenile, were arrested Thursday in connection with the burglaries, which occurred at businesses that had video gaming machines. Officials said the offenders would force entry into the machines, taking an undisclosed amount of cash and leaving the property with extensive damage.
