FAA investigating near miss at O’Hare Airport
CHICAGO – The FAA is investigating a near hit at O’Hare Airport between an American Eagle airliner and a United Express jet last week.
An American Eagle pilot was taking off Tuesday night, when he took quick action to avoid hitting the United jet that steered onto the runway without air traffic control’s clearance.
The American Eagle plane was cleared for takeoff by air-traffic controllers.
Sources tell the Chicago Tribune the United Express pilot missed an assigned turn from one taxiway to another.
