Michael R. Zalewski
Michael Zalewski has been alderman of the 23rd Ward since 1995. He is currently serving his fifth term. Alderman Zalewski was elected president pro tempore of Chicago City Council in 2009. In that role, Zalewski presided over City Council proceedings in the absence of Mayor Daley. He has served on the following committees: Aviation (Chairman), Budget and Government Operation, Health and Environmental Protection, Rules and Ethics, Economic, Capital, and Technology Development, Workforce Development and Audit, and Finance.
Martin Arteaga is a small business owner and an advocate for community development, education and crime reduction. He sits on the board of the Latino Organization of the Southwest and is a committee member of Sigma Lambda Beta Chicago Alumni Network, which is the largest Latino fraternity in the country. Martin has worked as a political organizer on various presidential and congressional elections. He attended Chicago Public Schools as a child and went on to earn his B.A. in political science from DePaul University and pursued his graduate studies at Northwestern University in public policy and administration.
Anna Goral is a businesswoman and independent candidate who will focus on job growth and spending cuts. She has worked for big corporations and started two separate small businesses in Garfield Ridge, Infotravel and Goral Real Estate. Goral has served as a board member on many business and civic organizations.
