We believe the dead man is 31-year-old Mark England, a deaf friend of our’s who moved into this apartment about a week before the fire. He was trying to get an ADA-compliant fire/smoke alarm installed. Can you confirm the victim’s identity?

I’m very sorry for your loss. Mark was a sweet, interesting young man, and we miss him. His daily updates and pictures of Chicago were something we, his friends, looked forward to.
