Icy, snowy roads loom for Super Bowl travelers
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois State Police officials are urging travelers to be extremely cautious as they make their way to Super Bowl parties in what could be a heavy winter storm.
They say drifting snow and wet and icy road conditions may disrupt travel Sunday. Drivers should allow extra time as they make their travel plans.
Illinois State Police Col. Mike Zerbonia says keeping extra distance between vehicles helps avoid accidents during snow and ice conditions. Slow down and make room for emergency vehicles and snow removal equipment.
If there is an accident, it’s advised to exchange insurance and driver information, and then keep roads clear, unless medical attention is needed. Drivers can file crash reports at the nearest Illinois State Police district within 10 days.
