Attorney General: He’s a conman of unimaginable magnitude

Bluntly put, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, the state’s top law enforcement officer sums up her opinion about home repair contractor mark diamond.

A WGN investigation last night uncovered dozens of claims from senior citizens that diamond through his company United Residential Services & Real Estate, Inc. promised to fix up their homes through what he says is a free government program.

But what he really did was sign them up for a reverse mortgage where the homeowner borrows money against the value of the home and doesn’t have to pay it back until he or she dies or the home is sold.

As a result, many claim they have been left with shoddy, incompletely and hazardous repairs.
