Rosemont officer suspended after fatally shooting brother-in-law, police say

ROSEMONT, Ill. — A Rosemont police officer is suspended after police say he shot and killed his brother-in-law.

Investigators say, it happened Wednesday morning at a home on Scott Street, near Rosemont’s Lange Park.

It followed a bad car crash involving Officer Rick Drehobl and Joseph Caffarello.

Caffarello died of gunshot wounds.

Caffarello’s name has been in the news before. He was fired for sleeping on the job as a supervisor in an Illinois Tollway garage.
