At Macy’s on State Street, the holiday spirit was all around -- and so was the color of money.

Saturday was Super Saturday, the last Saturday before Christmas. It is expected to be the busiest shopping day of the season, surpassing Black Friday for the first time.

According to Chicago-based ShopperTrak, a nationwide $10 billion will be spent on holiday gifts Saturday.

The National Retail Federation says about 14.5 percent of shoppers will look to buy their last gift.

More men than women wait until the last few days to get those last gifts.

Kohl's opened at 6 a.m. Friday and will stay open 100 hours until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Christmas Eve.

Other retailers, such as Toys R Us, Walmart and Target, are offering extended hours as well.
