An early morning flight out of O’Hare this morning was brightened by carolers, clowns, Santa and his elves. It was a little holiday magic, and most importantly a sense of love and support, for Chicago families with one difficult aspect in common. Each has lost a parent or a spouse in active military duty.

Today they flew out of Chicago to build happy holiday memories onboard the Snowball Express.

Parties similar to this one were held across the U.S. today as the 9th annual Snowball Express brought 1800 people together to share in their common bond and celebrate what is usually a very tough holiday season.

Every step of their trip is a tribute to their sacrifices. Dozens of Chicago police officers and firefighters on hand offering support and thanks.

Once in Dallas, there were more parties, a movie premier and private concert among other activites. And a chance for these kids to just be kids.
