A spokeswoman called the driver’s alleged actions “appalling and unacceptable.”
The driver has been released by Uber.

The company says each of its drivers receives a rigorous background check.

It’s just one of several incidents involving Uber.

Let’s review: She gets drunk at bar. she orders an Uber. She passes out in car. She wakes up under the driver. Sounds NOT like a clear-cut case. She may not be the victim she claims to be.

The evil taxicab union and their buddies in the media are trying to kill Uber. Unfortunately, consumers around the world realize that Uber is the answer to smelly cabs driven by rude and often scary-looking people. Tell me cab drivers are “safer” thatn Uber drivers – can’t really say that, can you?

Uber is great. I think the issue is a man raped a woman. A cab driver could do it as well as a cop could too if he pulled you over and you were alone. Men rape women, that is a fact… We need to be aware and alert and if you live in the city you MUST be street smart to survive. But men rape all over the world from whom have all different types of jobs, not just an Uber driver. I Uber everywhere and I never would’ve gotten in the front seat: huge red flag. Also, carrying Mace is a wise idea when you are alone. Safety is in numbers though. Stick with a friend, and if you’re drunk, we ought to rely on our friends to insure that we get home safely.
Just my thoughts being a city girl and all.

I like Uber and will continue to use them. When the media reports all the bad (really just a handful) of incidents it makes Uber look bad. Don’t kid yourself into believing taxis or other companies are safer. Uber is the safest.
