Another "crash and grab" in the Chicago area. This time, at a high-end store on the "Mag Mile."
It happened at the Neiman Marcus store at 737 N. Michigan Avenue around 4 a.m. Wednesday.
Someone drove a white Dodge Grand Caravan through the store's glass doors facing Superior Street. Up to six people ran inside.
"I heard like, two big booms. So, I came outside and I saw the van, the white van, pulling back and then going back forward again," said witness Juliana Martini.
The suspects grabbed purses and other accessories. Some of them escaped in two getaway vehicles, while two others were found hiding near dumpsters in an alley and arrested.
"He was laying on the ground hiding, in a face down position," said Marcus McNeese, who works close by. "Police came and looked underneath the dumpster, shined a light on them, and told them to get out."
No charges have been filed, and police are looking for the other suspects.
Police are also looking through evidence at the scene and checking surveillance video.
The van has been towed away from the store, and boards are covering the Superior Street entrance.
Authorities are not saying if this incident is related to at least eight others in Chicago area.
Most of the property taken has been recovered.
