Apple reveals list of top apps for 2014

On Monday, Apple revealed its list of the best apps for iPhone and iPad in 2014.

Here, we look at the best apps of the year for iPhone and iPad, as well as the best games of the year for iPhone and iPad.

iPhone App of the Year: Elevate
Free for iOS and Android

Billed as “your personal brain trainer,” Elevate is a brain training program designed to improve focus, speaking skills, processing speed, memory, math skills, and more. According to the app’s creators, users who train at least 4 times per week have reported dramatic gains and increased confidence.

iPhone Game of the Year: Threes!
$2.99 for iOS; $1.99 for Android

A puzzle game tasks players with matching cards of the same numbers, and once you start, you can’t stop! Apple said Threes was “one of the finest number puzzlers we’ve ever played, this little gem is big on charm and clever concepts.”

iPad App of the Year: Pixelmator
$9.99 for iOS
